Hiking around I sometimes stumble onto one of these dry waterfalls--a white stain running down a cliff face--and I wonder what they must look like during storms or in spring when they flow all full and gushing. The desert's such a dry place, but it remembers its life-giving encounters with water, marking such places with these lacy love letters of white--a promise to return again.
